How to delete your account

The steps are the same in the Android and iPhone apps, in the browser at app.journal-about.me, and in the Telegram Mini App.

1. Open About Me and sign in
2. Go to Settings → Account and language
3. In the Danger zone section, tap Delete account
4. Confirm that you understand the consequences. If you sign in with email, enter your current password
5. Tap Delete forever

If you cannot sign in

Email [email protected] with the subject “Account deletion”. Send it from the email linked to your account, or tell us how you sign in: Telegram or Sign in with Apple. Before deleting the account, we will ask you to confirm that it belongs to you.

What is deleted

Data is removed from the database and file storage immediately. If you used Sign in with Apple, the app’s authorization in your Apple Account is also revoked. The following is deleted:

• Journal and dream entries, day ratings, emotions, activities, and scales
• Memories, tags, goals, and memory suggestions
• Photos and videos, including their thumbnails in file storage
• Profile, settings, reminders, and custom journal fields
• Sign-in methods, active sessions, and account security events

What may remain after deletion

Infrastructure backups may contain account data for a limited time until they are routinely overwritten. They are not used to run the service and are never restored into a deleted account. App error reports and AI request statistics are kept without a link to the account and without journal content. They are used for security and incident investigation.

Before you delete

If you may need your data later, download a backup: Settings → Backup and restore → Download backup. Once the account is deleted, the data cannot be recovered.

Deleting individual data

You do not have to delete the whole account. Entries, memories, goals, and photos can be deleted one by one. Deleted memories go to the trash first, where you can delete them permanently.
